Apr. Newsletter
One year ago, South Side Hackerspace, a member-run collective based out of Bubbly, partnered with the Nationwide Eclipse Ballooning Project to launch a high-altitude weather balloon during the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse. Funded by NASA and the National Science Foundation, the project captured video, audio, and gamma-ray data from nearly 92,000 feet above southern Illinois using Raspberry Pi–powered cameras and sensors. You can watch the full flight here, complete with eclipse footage and payload recovery. And to read our April Newsletter in full, click here.
